Harold Li, Ph.D.

Dr. Li is a Tenured Professor, Vice Chair/Chief of Medical Physics, and Director of Medical Physics Residency Program in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Li received his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in Erlangen, Germany. After a postdoctoral appointment at Vanderbilt University and a Medical Physics Residency at the University of Florida, he joined Washington University in St. Louis in 2004 where he worked for 17 years and rose to Professor, Director of Medical Physics Research, and Chief of External Beam Medical Physics Service. He has been a member of multiple subcommittees and task groups of the AAPM. He has supervised more than 10 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers and contributed toward training over 40 medical physics residents. Dr. Li has written over 90 peer-reviewed publications and is an Associate Editor of Medical Physics. He has been Principal Investigator of multiple NIH grants and served as Scientific Reviewer on NIH radiation therapy dosimetry and SBIR/STTR study sections. His contributions to the field include developing high-resolution electronic dosimetry films for IMRT/IMPT and experimental and computational dosimetry techniques for online adaptive MRgRT.
